Connect44 is seeking an Back Office NFVI Engineer to join our team in Bucharest on a permanent basis.

Main activities and tasks:
- Provide 2nd line operational support for the Cloud Infrastructure platform (Ericsson CEE, NFVI, ECCD, and SDI), ensuring high availability and performance.
- Manage the lifecycle of Infrastructure-related Incidents, Problems, and Changes, coordinating with vendors, field teams, and stakeholders.
- Perform configuration, integration, and maintenance of infrastructure components (e.g., CEE/OpenStack compute and network nodes, ECCD/Kubernetes clusters, SDI Ceph storage, and OVS/SR-IOV data plane).
- Participate in platform upgrades and expansions, including software upgrades of CEE, ECCD, and SDI components, and the onboarding of new infrastructure nodes or capacity for a European operator.
- Monitor infrastructure platform stability and resource utilisation alarms (compute, storage, networking); investigate performance degradations, troubleshoot anomalies, and restore service.
- Assist in Change Management activities such as planning, executing, and validating configuration changes, software updates, and parameter adjustments.
- Conduct acceptance testing and validation of new equipment, features, and site upgrades prior to production rollout.
- Provide remote technical support to field engineers during installation, migration, and troubleshooting activities.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and documentation regarding operational procedures, troubleshooting guides, and lessons learned.
- Deliver managed services during standard business hours and participate in on-call rotations, acting as technical authority for Infrastructure-related escalations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within operations, focusing on network resilience, automation, and efficiency.
Required Education & Trainings:
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Networking, or IT Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Required Experience:
- Background in Incident, Problem, and Change Management in an operations/NOC setting.
- Experience in remote or site operations (integration, acceptance, commissioning, testing, maintenance, and support) of cloud infrastructure components.
- Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Experience working with multi-vendor telecom networks is desirable, with a strong focus on Ericsson equipment.
Specific skills & technical knowledge:
- Very good knowledge of NFV/cloud infrastructure architectures, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and SDN concepts, including ETSI NFV MANO frameworks and telco cloud deployment models.
- Extensive experience with Ericsson infrastructure products: CEE (Cloud Execution Environment / OpenStack), ECCD (Ericsson Cloud Container Distribution / Kubernetes), and SDI (Software Defined Infrastructure / Ceph storage and OVS networking).
- Knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot virtualisation and cloud infrastructure issues, including KVM hypervisor, SR-IOV/DPDK data plane, OVS/OVN networking, and Ceph storage fault investigation.
- Knowledge of collecting and interpreting infrastructure logs, metrics, and traces using observability tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch stack, or Ericsson ENM/VNFM).
- Ability to troubleshoot compute, storage, and network resource contention and capacity issues within a virtualised infrastructure environment.
- Knowledge of data centre networking technologies including BGP, OSPF, VLAN, VXLAN, spine-leaf topologies, and their application in telco cloud environments.
- Knowledge of UNIX or LINUX operating systems.
- Scripting skills (Bash, Python, Ansible) and experience with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code tooling (Helm, Argo CD, Terraform) for automated platform lifecycle management.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
